OUR BEST INTERVIEW WITH THE TALENTED INIKO

1.Tell us about your new song? And what’s the story behind it?

Iniko: I recently released an album with Vinayak Rajan. “Consternation” is all about the dismay of the unexpected pandemic with all that is going around in the world. We are back with the Gen Z view of the isolation and anxiety caused by these trying times with a blend of many genres and cultures that give an insight into who we are.

In the time of chaos, where there was death surrounding us in society. There was a lot of anxiety and mental health issues surrounding me and my family. I got along with Vinayak Rajan to showcase those feelings. I believe that music genuinely heals the soul and that what I felt we needed in that time of isolation. After a year we are back to square one, this is our attempt to showcase that feeling of “Consternation”, that we felt.

One day, we sat down and started writing some lyrics, and there we knew that we had to add a proper story behind “pretty eyes”. Pretty eyes are the base of our album, it’s the song that gives a story to other songs. We literally made the album in a hotel room, which only took us only 15 days. Mostly all the songs were recorded in a hotel room and some were recorded in proper studios. There are 7 songs in the album with 7 different genres.

2.What makes your music unique? And how would you describe it?

Iniko: I always try to create art that I haven’t made before. My basic attempt is to start from scratch, try not to use loops, and make something that no one has mostly thought of. As I write lyrics too I try to feel the beat and write something which compliments it.

The basic difference with me is I don’t make tracks, I make art.

3.Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?

Iniko: There are many but this one has been my favorite one, I was a part of a concert recently. The feeling that other people are vibing to and singing your songs with you is something else.

4.How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends, or work?

Iniko: I’m 17 and in 12th grade, so it’s important for me to study to go to a good music college. I set my priorities straight, Music is what I wanna do in the future. Being mentally healthy is very important so if I feel that I’m cutting down on things because of music then sometimes I take a break.

5.What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

Iniko: As things have not been well lately because of the pandemic, some artists feel like quitting because of the struggle. I’ve not struggled much for now because my music journey started recently but I think the struggle is the part of success and you just have to grind and have patience, no one else but you can tell what you are capable of.

6.If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

Iniko: Being empathetic will lead you to be a good person. Keep sharing my work, I appreciate and love you all!

7.What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?

Iniko: For now, I’ve got 6 unreleased tracks, I’ll be releasing them slowly. I’m planning to work on a 3 track EP with someone soon. “Consternation” was just a start, there’s more to come.
