1. Can you please tell our readers your real name as well as your stage name?
Gramps: My name is Akil Grampus but I go by Gramps The Producer. I got the nickname Gramps from young and it just stuck with me ever since.
2. Where are you from and Where are you based?
Gramps: I’m from Queens NY and based out of NY, but I’ve worked with artists from all over; from NY to Kenya to Russia.
3. At what age did you start making music?
Gramps: I got into music when I was in the 3rd grade. My grandfather was a musician and he began to teach me how to play the drums, guitar, saxophone and piano. Once I got to high school I began to write, and taught myself how to record and mix. Eventually I got into making beats, which got me here today.
4. If you were given a chance, which Artist would you love to work with?
Gramps: I would love to either work with Doja Cat or Ariana Grande. I think the both of them make such dope music, and I would love to step outside of rap and make a giant pop record. Honorable mention to Uncle Murda as well. One of my personal favorite rappers.
5.What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Gramps: My advice is to just keep going. Success comes to those who take it. If you’re willing to work through the obstacles, even when it feels like you’re not making progress, you’re bound to be successful. Stay Hungry and Stay Humble.
6.If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?
Gramps: My message would be Thank You! I appreciate all the continued support, and it doesn’t go unnoticed. I have a lot planned for this year, and I just want to be able to make good music for you all to listen to.
7.What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?
Gramps: I have a few songs with a couple big artists dropping this summer as well as a couple other ventures, and I’m really looking forward to it. Stay tuned! I plan on shaking things up this year.
