OUR INTERVIEW WITH REX ARCUM FOR HIS NEW RELEASE “PAVING THE WAY”

1.Tell us about your new song? And what’s the story behind it?

Rex: Paving the Way is essentially a song about paving your own path through life. We are all funneled into the laid-out path of going through school, then college or university and then you’re told to work a 9 to 5 job until you eventually retire. I wrote this song after actually dropping out of University myself, it’s a song about chasing your dreams and living your life to the fullest.

2.What makes your music unique? And how would you describe it?

Rex: It could be said that my sound is an amalgamation of Biffy Clyro, Kanye West, Twenty One Pilots and Bring Me The Horizon. I pride myself on my music being full of energy and being a total mix of hip-hop and rock. I’m definitely not the first person to mix these genres, in fact in my opinion genres are barely even a thing anymore and I think that’s the way music is going. But I have never heard anyone fuse genres the way I do.

3.Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?

Rex: Honestly what makes me proud is when someone messages me about how much my music means to them. The fact that I can make someone’s day a little bit better with music is the reason I started putting songs out and it is so rewarding. The fact that some people call me their favorite musician is insane.

4.How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends, or work?

Rex: This is a tough one to answer, it just takes organization really. I’m extremely lucky that my friends and my girlfriend get involved with my music and help me out, which in turn gives me more time to hang out with them and do other stuff once my to-do list is ticked off.

5.What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

Rex: You have to just take the jump and full on go for it, you’ll be surprised how you will naturally find your people and they will support you. There will be haters because there are always people who don’t like seeing other succeed, hate just comes from their own pain remember that. As long as you’re kind and doing what you believe in you will have much more supporters than haters, trust me on that.

6.If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

Rex: Never stop spreading positivity. It is incredible to see my music driving people on and getting them motivated, and you all do the same for me. You guys are the most incredible and real people I know, I don’t like calling you “fans”, in my eyes we’re just a big family.

7.What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?

Rex: I’m focusing on releasing a new single every month, I’m starting to get a lot of features and co-releases lined up with artists that I am genuinely a fan of. I cannot wait to share these songs with everyone over the coming months.
